Experience

Inkling’s founder and principal, Michael Connolly, has been writing for corporate and political leaders for more than two decades, from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill. He has written for presidential candidates, senior executive branch officials, U.S. Senators and Representatives, major corporations and non-profits, the RNC and Republican congressional leadership, trade associations, and think tanks. 

Success

Connolly’s work has been heard in both houses of Congress, national party conventions, in legislatures and venues around the world, and read in hundreds of publications across the country, from small town newspapers to the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. He has also ghostwritten several books, including a #1 Amazon bestseller. 

Thought Leadership

Connolly’s strategic successes include creating the Club for Growth’s 2010 “Repeal It!” campaign, and spearheading Sen. Mike Lee’s acclaimed Conservative Reform Agenda in 2013, the bicameral Article I Project in 2016, and the Joint Economic Committee’s ongoing Social Capital Project, which launched in 2017.

Coaching & Mentoring

Connolly has been coaching and mentoring writers almost as long as he’s been writing. As a teacher at a start-up boys school in Maryland in the mid-2000s, he created a composition curriculum for middle- and high-school students, authored a writing textbook, and ran writing camps in the summer. Since then, he has mentored individual writers, led training workshops for congressional offices, and also serves as resident writing instructor for the  Leadership Institute, Conservative Partnership Institute, and the Heritage Foundation.
